History
Karakanas Dairy” was founded in 1970 by Karakanas Nikolaos who focused in Feta and Kasseri cheese production ever since. His dairy farmers family that was roaming over the mountains of West Macedonia and Thessaly with their herd had already taught him the secrets of traditional cheesemaking.

In 2001 the company was strengthened from the new generation of cheesemakers, Nikolaos’s son, Panagiotis, who while graduating from Dairy Science and Technology MSc studies, helped to the matching of traditional and modern knowledge of the art of cheesemaking.

The company is established in Stefanovikeio, in Central Greece, nearby the city port of Volos, surrounded by Lake “Karla” and Pelion Mountain, the mountain of “Centaurs”.


Quality:

Sheep’s and goat’s high quality milk is being collected daily from free-ranging herds by our private milk collecting network.

The supply of fresh milk from the surrounding to the dairy milk producers, the strictest food safety and quality control measurements according the ISO standards, ensure the authenticity and high quality of our products.

The dairy also controls strictly the supplemental animal feed of milk producers in order to assure the GMOs farming and the ALL NATURAL of our products.
